 The Last Airbender
First teaser trailer for the movie! http://www.thelastairbendermovie.com/It doesn't show much really but I'm a massive fan of the cartoon so seeing a little bit of it adapted to "real life" made me poop myself a bit. Summer of 2010 =( Man I don't want to wait another year for it!

 Re: The Last Airbender
:/ I was kinda hoping for an animated thing, continuing off of the end of Book 3... What up with Zuko's mom huh? That was like the very last clip of the ending...
I don't know how they'd fit all the whole series, or enough of it, to make it interesting without damn near requiring a sequel or two. That or just butcher it so much that it has no relation to the Nick series at all..

 Re: The Last Airbender
Its going to be a trilogy. I agree fitting the entire season into a movie is going to be tough. Several of the episodes were kinda fluff in my opinion though so as long as they hit on the major points of the series, I'll be okay with them chopping a lot of it up to fit. I would like to see what happens after the series. Cool thing is, they are all children. They could open up a new series down the line where they are grown up a bit or hell, even old. I would like to see some expansion on the search for Zuko's mom though.

cool! Hopefully they don't mess it up too much. I know there were a lot of filler episodes but i loved those.

 Re: The Last Airbender
My hope is that they keep some of the humor between the characters. Sokka always cracked me up. I hope that personality translated well to the movie. I wonder if they'll have the guy with the cabbage cart The filler eps were great but usually didn't do much to drive the plot along. I can live without those in a film encompassing the entire first season.

 Re: The Last Airbender
The new trailers for this movie are looking particularly bad ass. I hate to get my hopes too high just to be let down but I'll be damned if I ain't excited.
Other than the "omg u racists not casting asians!" drama and eggs surrounding the movie (which honestly I can give a flying fuck about), my only problem is with the dude who plays Iroh. You only see him a tiny bit in the latest preview but he's the only one in the movie that doesn't resemble his cartoon counterpart, especially in season 1. He was old, short, round, happy and wise with the ability to whoop some ass when needed. The actor looks a bit too skinny, young and serious. We'll see though. If he can at least pull the personality off, I can forgive the rest.
Speaking of personalities, and I know its just the previews, I'm not seeing any of the humor that the cartoon had. I'm fairly confident there will be at least a little bit but thats part of what I loved about the cartoons so I hope there will be some of the character dynamics that make it entertaining beyond nifty martial arts and bending.

 Re: The Last Airbender
I am trying my hardest not to get excited about this because I know I will only be disappointed in the end. I just hope they don't screw it up Legend of the Seeker, or Queen of the Damned style. If the adaptation is closer to how well they did the first 3 Harry Potter movies, or the Lord of the Rings movies, it should be pretty good.

 Re: The Last Airbender
I hope they keep to the story line for the most part. There was some filler stuff and lots to cover with a movie. i did not see the bison in the trailer which worries me. I am excited to see this.

He should be in there cause they made it a point that the dude who does the voices of Appa and Momo will reprise that role in the film.

 Re: The Last Airbender
This concerns me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Airbender" Avatar co-creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko voiced their opinion within an interview regarding M. Night Shyamalan writing, directing and producing the film. The two displayed much enthusiasm over Shyamalan's decision for the adaptation, stating that they admire his work and, in turn, he respects their material.[11] Producer Frank Marshall explained that they have high hopes to stick to a PG rating. "I'm not even sure we want to get in the PG-13 realm. Furthermore, Shyamalan said, "I took away a little bit of the slapsticky stuff that was there for the little little kids, the fart jokes and things like that...We grounded Katara's brother...and that really did wonderful things for the whole theme of the movie."[12]"

That doesn't sound good. What good is Sokka if not for a laugh?

 Re: The Last Airbender
Oh dear. I was afraid of that. Still, I can survive with a more "serious" theme as long as they are true to the story. If this ends up getting the Legend of the Seeker treatment, I'm going to airbend Shyamalan right off a cliff.

 Re: The Last Airbender
I just wanted to note that with my quote of the wiki article above the original creators have stamped their approval to this coming movie. Maybe that is just lip service for the cash?

 Re: The Last Airbender
Eh, maybe. Honestly I expected it to lose a lot of the silly fun stuff that made the cartoon great. Thinking ahead now, I'd most likely get a little annoyed if they tried to do some of the stuff in a "real life" adaptation just cause I don't think some of it would translate very well from one medium to another. A lot of it would be super cheesy but I'm hoping there will be good opportunity for some of the humor to show through. Sokka has to complain about food, someone has to wreck the cabbage cart, etc. Thats my hope anyway.

Terry Goodkind was all onboard with Legend of the Seeker at first also. And we saw how that turned out. About the slapsticky stuff. Yanno what my favorite part of the show was?? Don't laugh! But I liked the intro when Angh was riding around on his lil ball of air and slammed into the statue with an oof! Made me laugh EVERY time, not even exaggerating, ask Darrel. The slapstick stuff made the comedy, but I understand your point Sordfish. Some of it really wouldn't work so well with real life people.

Fucking hell. These damn trailers are getting me VERY excited. Every one has gotten better and better. I don't think I've ever been looking forward to a movie so much in my life. Not even GI Joe and I love me some GI Joe. http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/para ... airbender/Check out the latest one. Please dear god, let the acting and story be good. Everything else looks amazing. Don't fuck this up! ; ;

 Re: The Last Airbender
Guessing someone visited rotten tomatoes today?
Sometimes, I decide I want to see a movie even if the reviews are pretty piss poor. Last Airbender was one of those. Today I've changed that philosophy, learning that my interest nosedives into "eh, I'll pass" if a movie gets below a 10% aggregate. It's fun to be almost 30 and still learning the way my mind works. It's also a sign that I'm legitimately retarded.

 Re: The Last Airbender
I'm still going to see it but seeing the reviews just makes me go in with even less expectations. From what I'm hearing there is no humor, everyone is dark and brooding, Iroh isn't even the same personality. The only one that is close to the TV show personality is Zuko. For anyone who's seen the excellent climax at the end of season 1, be disappointed by that climax in the movie.

 Re: The Last Airbender
The movie was not bad, it is certainly worth a rental but not worth the movie price. They did not even say eng's name correctly they called him ang. This and many other things frustrated me, like Sokka might as well have been a random person he is Sokka in name alone. Some things I allowed for because it is a movie but I did not see it in 3rd and it was blurry! This combined with Sokka being F'ed, and saying eng as ang really pissed me off. Uncle Iroh is tall and thin! out of 5
